Introduction

I believe hazing has become a huge problem in sports at various different levels. Hazing is a problem at the high school, collegiate, and professional level. I have done a lot of research on hazing and I am saddened to see professional athletes who are role models to so many young athletes, laugh and celebrate about their hazing acts.  Specifically, teams in professional football are one of the most frequent offenders.  To some, hazing is seen as funny; as somewhat of a welcoming to a team or a rite of passage. It can be something silly and harmless, but it is still hazing. There is also extreme hazing in which some athletes have been sent to the hospital with severe injuries, sometimes even death.  Coaches need to make sure they are not allowing hazing on their teams.  Turning your head the other direction can cause many problems and you could become liable for the hazing actions.
